In a city distinguished by local craftsmanship, a rich industrial history and a whole lot of charisma, the new Four Seasons New Orleans’ Miss River restaurant writes a love letter to The Big Easy through a combination of classic Louisiana fare and evocative design that comes complete with its own stunning art collection curated by Kate Chertavian.
“Miss River pays homage to the Mississippi river flowing only feet away from the Four Seasons grounds, which is frequented daily by industrial steamboats and barges,” says Alexander Waterworth of London-based firm Alexander Waterworth Interiors, the dream-team behind the new venture. “The team and I wanted to pull on the strength symbolised by this powerful resource by introducing rich walnut timbers with organic edge detailing to the tabletops, and a stud detailing around the mirror cornice and alcoves.”
Located on the ground floor of the landmark building, the signature eatery marries ornamental detailing, Art Deco-inspired curves, and mixed metals to reflect its soft lighting, all adding a sense of drama and grandeur to the dining experience.
“Muted green and blue cotton velvet tones by Altfield and Zimmer+Rhode on the banquettes are complemented by rich pink and navy leathers from Moore & Giles on the chairs, while an impressive pink quartzite marble bar adds a softness and elegance to the space,” says Waterworth.
All this comes complemented by the wall finishes, a textured scalloped wallpaper painted in a high gloss muted dusky pink, and silver antique mirror columns. Add Alon Shaya’s spirited cuisine and the legendary Four Seasons service, and you’ve got a sure-fire recipe for success.
